Google’s Doodle of the day honors Robert (Bob) Arthur Moog, American inventor and electronic music pioneer, celebrating what would have been Moog’s 78th birthday. Bob Moog started constructing and selling Theremins with his father in 1954. By 1963, he became the inventor of the first Moog Modular synthesizer, inspired by composer Herbert A. Deutsch. Two years later, he graduated from Cornell University with his PhD in Engineering Physics. He continued to develop the scope and technology of electronic synthesizers and Moog music throughout the rest of his life, pursuing a life-long passion in technology, science, and the arts.
